MAD HERBALISM : Herbs &#38;amp; Emotional Agency for Pathological Times. A live workshop in Philly. Saturday 10/24 12-4 pm&#38;nbsp;We live in distressful and griefstricken times. Many of us might be experiencing shifts in our emotional baseline, some of us might already be prone to emotional crashouts, PTSD, anxiety, depression, anhedonia, menty bs, deep deep rage or other states of emotional distress. In this workshop we will discuss strategies to support ourselves emotionally with herbs within and throughout this.Often we talk about herbs as having subtle nourishing effects over time that are not immediately noticeable. When it comes to certain herbal actions, herbs carry the potential to work in immediate, body chemistry shifting ways. In this class we will discuss the potentials and limits of this category of plant medicine and herbal actions. We will discuss different emotionally supportive herbs, their properties, tastes, energetics and actions. We will discuss different ways distress can show up in our bodies and experiences and how different plants and formulations can be match-made to different emotional and physiological states. We will taste some blends and simples and teas in order to see for ourselves how the herbs affect us in the moment, as we are the ultimate deciders of how anything medicinal might feel for us.Please note that this is an introductory class on herbs and emotional distress. Sadly not all types of emotional distress or madness will be covered. There will be a focus on acute anxiety panic and grief. This class is in no way meant to present herbs as a more desirable alternative to psych meds nor is there any encouragement to replace.  main entrance: the actual front door to the space is at ground level and there are no steps to enter, but we often lock this door during events to discourage people hanging out front and to prevent a crowded bottleneck while people enter and leave the building. this area is also where performers often set up and store gear. we try our best to get people to keep this area clear but as you can imagine its a bit like hearding cats! the door itself is 36” wide with angled thresholds. once you enter through this door there is a narrow walkway that passes by the stage that is 34” wide. 
if you still prefer to enter through this front door once it has been locked, use the contact information on the front door to notify the person running the event so they can open the door for you or knock hard until someone opens the door for you. otherwise please enter through the back by going through the empty lot to the left of the building. you can also contact us ahead of time to coordinate an easier entrance using the contact email listed above.
backyard entrance: enter through the empty lot to the left of the building. you will have to walk through a grassy lot and down the alley to the right. look for the open gate on the right side of the alley with a fire pit surrounded by mulch with bench style seating in the backyard. the door to enter the space from the backyard is down a narrow and uneven alley. look for signs with arrows directing you.&#38;nbsp;
bathroom: is on the main level of the space with no steps to enter. it is ADA compliant wheelchair accessible but also still slightly under construction. there is a grab bar on the right wall next to the toilet and we are going to install more on the back soon. the door to the bathroom is 32” wide.&#38;nbsp;
general space:  technically the space is wheelchair accessible in that it is all at ground level and wide enough for most wheelchairs to pass through but it is also a small space and can get crowded easily potentially making it difficult to meneuver around. please contact us at 5522booking@gmail.com if you have further questions or concerns. we would be happy to try and coordinate regarding the accessibilty of the space prior to an event you would like to attend.&#38;nbsp;
